Using Diffusing Paper
With the cut out snowflakes ready to go, assemble your paints, inks, watercolors or markers. You’ll need pipettes, eye droppers, or brushes to apply the liquid colors. Also, you’ll need a small spray bottle of clear water if you are using washable markers.
Lay your snowflakes on a tray or surface covered in newspaper, plastic or a drop cloth. The paper will absorb a fair amount of liquid, but some may seep through underneath so protect your surfaces. Drop watercolors, inks, food colors or other watered down paint using either pipettes, eye droppers or brushes. Watch the colors merge and mingle and diffuse all over the paper.
Use washable markers to draw on the dry surface of the paper first. Then spray or mist, spatter or drip clear water over the marks to see them diffuse all over the paper.
Use white crayon first over areas of the dry paper you want to resist the liquid color from absorbing into.
Once the unique snowflakes are dry, decorate some more with glitter or markers.
Hang on bulletin boards, walls, windows or floating down from the ceiling.
