What is Nomenclature?

Students in Montessori schools learn about the things around them through nomenclature studies. Nomenclature is a way of naming the “parts of” something. Therefore, Montessori puzzles are usually cut into the various shapes and parts of the object to aid in this aspect of learning. The accompanying printed materials contain everything you need to get started in teaching the salmon lifecycle nomenclature.

What is in the Printable Download?

The comprehensive Salmon Lifecycle printable download was developed to further expand on the lifecycle concepts. It is a giant bundle of pdf materials you can choose from to print what you need. The materials range from Montessori 3-part cards, definition cards, lifecycle worksheets and 92 image matching cards featuring  a variety of salmon, bears, fishing boats and gear and fisher folk and children fishing.

What if I’m not Montessori Trained?

The learning features contained in the wooden puzzles made by Puzzle Heads are equally valuable in any educational environment. Children have insatiable curiosity to learn about the world around them. Maria Montessori developed a comprehensive pedagogy to make learning fun, infinitely expandable and applicable to all children. After all, Maria Montessori created her method by working with students with disabilities, and was able to prove that all students can learn. Dr. Montessori’s first Montessori class began in 1906.

You would be surprised to know how many of her methods and philosophies are used throughout many different educational systems today. Did you know that she created the concept of using child sized objects – furniture sized for children, household items sized for children (brooms, dishes, personal care items) etc. She was a fascinating pioneering woman you can read about here.
